Drawtober 2023: Return To TERRAH

This year I decided to return to the world I created in my 2018 drawtober, Terrah.

I created my own prompt list to retain the nostalgia of the first series while pushing it just enough to start weaving a small and simple story with brief research into some existing fungi and lichens. I've grown to feel at home in this world and intend to return to it in the future.

All illustrations were created on a small-tooth warm press watercolor paper, drawn with a nib pen and Dr. Ph. Martin's Black Star matte india ink, washed with the same black, and finished off with iridescent silver and red Liquitex acrylic inks, washes of Platinum Pen's gorgeous Forest Black ink, and Stuart Semple's GOLD acrylic paint. All illustrations were photographed with a Nikon DLSR and gray card through CaptureOne. Minor retouching to correct any natural warping and removal of adhesive tape was implemented as needed with a small increase in exposure to ensure vibrancy remained close to the real illustrations.
