Wood Fired Pottery October 2024
This collection of functional and sculptural work is from a train kiln wood firing in October 2024. This series had a mix of functional refires and more sculptural work. Some side fired and stack fired experiments were successful, leading to dramatic flashes and ash glaze collection in textures. There was some loss with cracking and bloating. These pieces were fired to cone 12ish with a small crash cooling to bring out a more shiny appearance on the glaze surfaces. Natural kiln reduction allowed for a lush range of golden toasty colors to lovely deep red-browns. A large sculpture was present in the firing but sadly did not survive intact. This series may be updated eventually to include a record of it.
