Wood Soda Fired Pottery March 2024
This collection of functional work is from a catenary arch kiln wood soda firing in March 2024. Unfortunately even with my records it was difficult to identify pieces as 12 pounds of soda solution were introduced into the kiln and covered up most of my brushwork and identifying marks. There was also a higher loss of pieces due to silicone carbide drips from the kiln shelves made of that material. These flaws appear as bright sea foam green glass, are highly porous and delicate, and are not suitable for functional pottery. These pieces were fired to cone 10 with a heavy reduction during the soda inoculation for a higher amount of carbon trapping.
